I'm an avid fan of loose file paper and drawing on bits of scrap. I also use a light box to fiddle about until I get a pose or expression just as I want it. Most elements of my final artwork are drawn separately and brought together on the computer, so that I can keep shifting things around - I really am an eternal tinkerer! All this means I get through a lot of paper, and my sketchbooks often look a little crazy with things stuck in here and there. I gleefully use this as an excuse to buy lots of pretty washi tape. I'm still mourning the loss of Paperchase, but luckily I've found other providers to feed my tape obsession, and the habit lives on. Here are some of my cleaner sketches to show how my work looks at the stage just before it is drawn up in sections and scanned into the computer for colouring.
